Profiles
KKKL Itera (Ocean Engineering Research Group)
Ocean Engineering Research Group (Ocean Engineering Research Group) is a research an organization under Ocean Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Infrastructure Technology and Regional Technology, Institut Teknologi Sumatera. The group aims to advance research and innovation in two main research areas:
-
Coastal Engineering and Management: This field involves studying and developing solutions to manage coastal regions sustainably, focusing on erosion control, coastal defense structures, sediment transport, and coastal disaster risk management. It plays a critical role in safeguarding coastal communities from the effects of climate change and natural disasters.
-
Ocean Hydrodynamics and Energy: This area focuses on understanding water movement in oceans, seas, and other bodies of water, and explores marine energy resources such as tidal, wave, and ocean current energy. It aims to harness the ocean's potential for sustainable energy production, contributing to the global transition to renewable energy.
Around 13 research personnel, OERG works on innovative projects to address challenges related to coastal and ocean environments, aiming to contribute both to academic knowledge and practical applications for Sumatera and for Indonesia.
